Waitts Lake, Stevens County, Washington

Waitts Lake (469.7 acres, Elevation 1,950 feet)
This oval shaped lake is a popular fishing, but also a great sailing lake. This lake has a recently updated public launch, and also has 3 resorts on this lake each with its own launch. Fishing: Fishing season starts in late April through February 28. Species include Brown Trout, Brown Bullhead, Largemouth Bass, Rainbow Trout, Yellow Perch, and Pumpkinseed. Directions: This lake is 10 miles south of the town of Chewelah off of Highway US-395 via Waitts Lake Road. ACCESSIBILITY: PARKING... Large gravel parking lot; PATHS/TRAILS... Paved paths to restroom, to launch, and shoreline; RESTROOMS/FACILITIES/SHADE… One fully accessible restroom. Shade via trees; DOCKS/LAUNCHES/PLATFORMS… No docks/platforms. One single lane cement launch pad at about 5% grade; DIRECT WATER ACCESS… No access for wheeled mobility devices, however there is a short paved sidewalk next to the shoreline. Beach is sand but as water level goes down accessing the water requires passing over mud; TRANSFER SYSTEMS... None; SENSORY... No sensory tactile markers for those with visual and other impairments; CAMPING... No; O.T.H.E.R… Oddities/Barriers: Nothing unusual; Terrain: Level to about 4% grade; H2O/Water: Water normally murky. Water temperature in the summer can be around 60 to 70 degree.
