Hutchinson and Shiner Lakes, Grant County, Washington

Hutchinson and Shiner (81.1 acres, Elevation 713 ft) Lakes
These two lakes are two beautiful lakes located within the Columbia National Wildlife Refuge south of the Potholes Reservoir and west of the city of Othello WA. Fishing is the main activity down on this lake but is also a nice place to
kayak and view the waterfowl. There is a short channel that connects the two lakes (east end of Hutchinson lake from the boat launch), this channel is difficult to pass through during lower than normal water times of the year and also when vegetation has grown during the summer (which also affect fishing from the shore). Again these two lakes are within the wildlife refuge boundaries and so no swimming and no combustible motors are allowed. Fishing: Largemouth Bass; Spiny Ray; Barriers installed to keep Carp out. Bluegill. Visit the following website for current fishing rules, etc. http://www.fws.gov/columbia/ . Directions:  From Moses Lake take HWY 17 south toward Othello; turn right (west) on HWY 262/O'Sullivan Dam Road. After crossing the dam and short distance down the road passing MarDon Resort turn left/south onto H Road SE. Proceed down H Road SE to the intersection of this road with W. McMannaman Road. Turn left/east onto W. McMannaman Road. Follow this road down the hill, across Crab Creek, and a short distance down the road on the right/south of the road is the gravel road to these lakes with a sign indicating the names of the lakes.
