Espanola Ponds, Spokane County, Washington

Espanola Ponds
Espanola Ponds are part of the Espanola State Land Site which is owned by the State of WA. and leased to both the Spokane Bird Dog Association (SBDA) and Spokane Retriever Club. These organizations maintain this location so please show respect and leave no trace of activity while there. These ponds are located W. of W. Medical Lake. There are four major ponds with several smaller ponds that come and go depending on how late you visit the area in the summer. With high winds coming off the desert, and completely in the open, the ponds are perfect for RC model sailboat on or bird watching. This location is always open via the pedestrian gate access and is a great place to bring your dog. You will have to pack your kayak into the ponds manually. Club members are the only ones allowed to access the site via car/truck. Also please check the SBDA website to make sure you do not access this site during any of their events. For a map of this location and more info related to the SBDA, go to http://www.spokanebirddog.org . Directions: Traveling W. from the Spokane Airport on HWY 2 turn L. (S.) onto S. Espanola Rd. then turn R. (W.) onto W. Chase Rd. which when you turn right (S.) on this road it turns into S. Ladd Rd. The site is just a few miles down the road to your right (W.). Also visit http://www.spokanebirddog.org for directions.
