Burgee

What’s a Burgee All About

Sailing is an individual sport – and a group sport too.  That is why yacht clubs and sailing clubs have been formed world-wide and why we belong to Inland Northwest Sailors: To share the joy of sailing with like-minded people and in the process, gain from the collective experience to make our own personal sailing experiences better.  Such is the objective of the Inland Northwest Sailors, which is now 14 years old.

Although our membership is scattered throughout three states, we all share the common experience of sailing in the northwest.  That is our identity; it is the purpose that joins us whether we live in Missoula Montana, Richland Washington, Spokane Washington, or Coeur d’Alene Idaho.  We are sailors in the Inland Northwest.

To celebrate this common denominator, we want to display our pride in the northwest with a burgee specially designed for our club.

The design incorporates a blue background symbolizing the amazing venues of lakes and rivers found in this part of the country.  The compass points reminds us of our skills as mariners and the white North Star in the northwest quadrant of the compass shows our common location in the beautiful northwestern part of this great country.  We are Inland Northwest Sailors and we now have a unique burgee to display that identity.

We are now in the process of creating our first run of this burgee.  Prestige Flag, maker of most of the burgees in the US and several foreign countries is producing this flag.  It is a stitched flag – not silk screened – using ultraviolet resistant material on a reinforced hoist with brass grommets.  We want to offer this quality flag to you at our cost of producing it: $25.00 each.  Our first run is 27 flags, and already we have commitments on five flags.

If you would like a burgee, please hit REPLY and let us know if you want one.  You do not have to pay until we receive the burgees in about one month from now.

This is a great opportunity to build a recognizable identity for our club, and to encourage others to join with us as we sail the beautiful waters where we live.
