Flying Hobie 14

These pictures remind me of when I was young in the late 1970s and early 80’s when I sailed my Hobie 14 through the surf in Grays Harbor Washington State USA.

The following pics are of Mick Butler of NSW Australia sailing his Hobie 14 through 20 foot/6 meter breaking surf. In July of 2020 there was a crazy southerly storm that hit this coast with 45-60 knot winds that drove waves into Jervi Bay. Some would see such a storm with its horizontal rain as a reason to stay ashore but not Mick, he saw it as an opportunity to flyh is Hobie 14, quite literally flying off the tops of the waves.
