HOBIE MIRAGE ISLAND... Looking for a super-fun multisport boat for one or two? The single seater is called the Adventure Island or AI; the two seater is called the Tandem Island or TI.

In its most elemental form, the Island is a super-fast sailing trimaran that you can
pedal. Attach the aka cross-beams, the ama floats and the two-piece carbon fiber rig and sail, and you and/or a partner will be flying across the water, powered by a roller-furling, boomless mainsail. Both the cockpits have scupper drain plugs that suck out any water while on the move, a highly adjustable Vantage seat that allows one to say driver than in past models and to adjust the lumber and seat bottom; The seat can be taken out to be used as a camp/beach chair. Steering and sail control lines can be all used while seated with no need to move from one side of the boat to the other when tacking... All these features makes the Island Ideal for any person in spite of skill level. And the boat's generous storage space and carrying capacity means that your adventure potential is huge.

Added changes starting for all Islands after Sept. 1 2014 as compared to past models include the new Mirage Drive with new Glide Technology... meaning they now have bearings that reduce friction for more easy pedaling. New hulls that are more like a sailboat than a kayak with wave piercing technology. A new Vantage seat that elevates the sailor into a higher position for a drier ride... the seat(s) sit in a new flat cockpit with scupper drain plugs that will drain water while moving through the water... no more water coming up through the drain holes when trying to get rid of water. The new seat means you will no longer have to sit in water. The Vantage seat is highly adjustable from a low position to a high Vantage position, and includes lumber and seat tension adjustments. Plus you can take the seat out of the boat and use it as a camping/beach chair. The Adventure Island specifically has a new taller mast with larger sail, longer ama hulls, and new built in retractable centerboard. And for 2017 the Mirage Drive pedal system now has reverse. Check out that all new Vantage Seat at this link... http://youtu.be/LHgWxxIYNvs

The new T2 is the benchmark boat for performance rotomolded sailing. With its two-layer rotomolded polyethylene hulls, the T2 is the ideal boat to sail with the family, among friends or in clubs. This new generation of Hobie Cat with its innovative design allows fun sailing with a high performance sensation.
For years Hobie sailors have wanted a durable rotomolded high performance catamaran and this is Hobie's answer to those requests. It is fast and has plenty of hull buoyancy to carry up to 4 people. It also has some of the features of the popular Wave and Getaway... in addition to the durable hulls it has no daggerboards but has the simple yet efficient skeg (fin) on the bottom of the hulls; It has a fully-battened boomless multi-colored square-top mainsail; EZ Loc rudder system; Comptip with mast float for added safety; Plus one can add the spinnaker for more speed and fun.

So maybe in the past you wanted a Hobie 16 for its speed but also wanted the durable rotomolded hulls, or maybe you wanted an 18 foot go fast cat without all the complicated set up... now there is such a boat without all compromises... quick set up, high durability, good carry capacity, and speed to boot all in one package

Besides being known as the king of the surf, the H16 is also the worlds #1 raced catamaran... its fast, and is known for its wild ride. When a gust of wind hits its sails it will accelerate in seconds. With practice one can leisurely sail by letting off the gas (trim the  sails to depower, etc.).
