FEBRUARY

15th Class... Small Keelboat Sailing Lesson: This is an all day (8:AM-6:PM) class where you will learn the basics of sailing... rigging, tacking, jibing, flow, wind-clock, etc. Bring a change of cloths, towel, sunscreen, water bottle, and lunch. We supply a learn to sail handout (book available), sailing simulator, boats, and PFD's. APRIL


10th Event... Sail/paddle on the Twin Lake. You will need the ability to put your mast down as we will pass through the channel between the lakes as there are two low bridges (about 10 ft clearance over the water). MAY


1st Sea Scout Meeting… Sea Cat meeting at SAIL Marine store (406 W Miles Ave., Hayden, Idaho) on the corner of HWY 95 and Miles Avenue on the west side of the HWY next to Cruze Auto Sales (same place with the long row of nice storage units). This meeting will focus on introducing new members to our group and as a preparation meeting for our May 2-3 sailing camping trip adventure. 30-31 or 24th Event... For Sea Scouts and all club members... Paddle/Sail Bonnie Lake, WA. This is a day trip or 2 day camping trip depending your choice. The plan is to leave Friday evening from the SAIL Marine store between 2-3:PM and travel and arrive at the Bonnie Lake primitive launch at 7:30PM. Then launch and boat to the Bonnie Lake volcanic Island to camp overnight. Those not camping can come to the Bonnie Lake primitive launch at 8:AM on Saturday. Access to the lake is limited to kayaks/canoes, sail yaks like the Hobie Island, and narrow shallow draft sailing dinghies. Boat must be 4 ft wide or less. Those of us with kayaks and Hobie mirage Islands will need to tow the sailboats through a channel into the lake a short distance. There are no facilities at this lake... no restrooms, running water, etc... very primitive camping. Please I need everyone that is coming to call me (208-704-4454) or email me funtosail@gmail.com . JUNE


7th Event... For Sea Scouts and Club Members... Sail Fest (9:AM-4:PM)? Come and enjoy an intro to sailing... try out various Hobie catamarans and Islands (Hobie sailing kayaks), Keelboats, Snark, and other sailboats. The Sail Fest (also know as the Kayak Fest) is located on the beach and dock between the Coeur d'Alene Resort and Independence Point on Lake Coeur d'Alene Idaho. 14-15th Event... For Sea Scouts and Club Members... Desert Regatta: Columbia Basin Yacht Club - Richland, WA. Regatta takes place at Charbonneau State Park near Ice Harbor Dam (17 miles east of Pasco, WA.) on the Snake River on April 30-May 1. Note that the state park fills up fast this time of year so you will need to either camp somewhere along the river/reservoir or in the Tri-Cities area, or better yet set reservations early. 21st Class... JULY

10th Sea Scout Activity/Meeting… For Sea Scouts and Club Members... Float the North Fork Coeur d'Alene River! We will have a quick meeting while we float down river. We meet at the SAIL Marine store in Hayden at 1:PM and at the Snake Pit Restaurant at 2:PM. Any youth needing a ride in the Hayden/Coeur d'Alene area we meet at 5:PM at SAIL Marine store (406 W Miles Ave., Hayden, Idaho) on the corner of HWY 95 and Miles Avenue on the west side of the HWY next to Cruze Auto Sales (same place with the long row of nice storage units). Bring your floaties and PFD's if you have any... if not we will supply the PFD's and possibly floaties depending on how many we have. Our meeting will focus on introducing new members to our group and as a preparation for our next event. Small Boat Sailing Lesson For Girls: This is a week long camp for girls to teach them the basics of sailing with some fun activities that include a treasure hunt and racing event to show off their new skills. July 25-28 Event... For Sea Scouts and Club Members... the Lewis-Clark Sailing Association is doing a Cruising Trip on Priest Lake. This group sails all trailer-able keelboats. I was thinking our group could hit Lionhead State Park beach so the Hobie's could camp out on the beach and the trailer-able keelboats could anchor off the beach. We could do a race around an Island, also sail up the thoroughfare into Upper Priest Lake. I will finalize this event shortly. Plan is to leave Friday evening after work. Sail Sat. and Sunday, and return Sunday evening or Friday morning. AUGUST

9th Event... for all club members and Sea Scouts... Our first annual regatta at Higgins Point on Lake Coeur d'Alene... called the Splash! will take place Aug. 2nd... Come Aug 1st for an evening sail and stay Sunday as some members will be doing a cruise but racing will take place on the 2nd. I will be posting more info shortly. Plan is to have a fun race around the cans and do a pot luck dinner. Also do a late evening sail when the Wolf Lodge Express (wind) comes in. To participate simply show up either Friday evening or Saturday morning... Our first race will be at 9:AM (has to be early due to the early morning winds) so our skippers meeting is at 8:AM. Will have as many races as the winds allow. After Saturdays racing at 6:PM we will have a pot luck dinner... There is no camping allowed on land at this site so one will need to camp on their boat or camp at the near by campgrounds at Lake Coeur d'Alene Camping Resort or at Wolf Lodge CampgroundHiggins Point is the furthest east end of the bike trail called the Centennial Trail. SEPTEMBER

6th Event... For Sea Scouts and all Club Members... Sail and Paddle in the city of Spokane. This river trip take place starting at just below the Upriver Dam on the Spokane River and ends up at the Division Street Bridge area. What is difficult about planning this is event is doing it when the river flow is very slow, so we can sail and paddle safely near the dam at River Front Park in down town Spokane. You will need to call email me (funtosail@gmail.com) or call me at 208-704-4454 to make sure this event is happening. This event is best suited for Hobie Islands… You can do this on a small shallow draft sailing dinghy but there are two sets of class 1 rapids and the wind shifts a lot.

13th Class... Small Boat Sailing Lesson (Hobie Cats & Islands, Keelboats, Monohulls Dinghies/Day Sailors): This is an all day (8:AM-6:PM) class where you will learn the basics of sailing... rigging, tacking, jibing, flow, wind-clock, etc. Bring a change of cloths, towel, sunscreen, water bottle, and lunch.
